Prep Day - Well Prepared For The Big Day

Preparation Day has its origins in a religious context. In Islam as well as in Judaism and Christianity, it refers to the 24-hour period in which believers get in the mood for an important day of the year. Prep(aration) Day has a more secular meaning for British housewives: They use it to cook in advance so that they have to do less kitchen work during the week and can still serve hot meals every day. Last but not least, the term is also used in the USA. Here, future students are prepared for everyday life on campus by means of Prep Day - and even have to prove that they have completed this programme.

Briefing for the entire team

For a model , the preparation day initially means additional work - because on this day she prepares for the production of a photo series , an advertising clip or an image film with everyone involved. Depending on what has been agreed with the modelling agency and the conditions under which the model has been booked, she may be paid for the preparation day - or she may have to do it free of charge as part of the production. However, this important appointment is by no means free of charge: on the preparation day, questions about the set-up, the lighting and the sequence of the actual shooting day or photo shoot are discussed. Above all, however, the model undergoes a comprehensive briefing in order to understand all the requirements for the production. This includes external factors such as the degree of tanning of the skin and the condition of the hair and fingernails - but also mental and physical fitness. The briefing also conveys the client's expectations so that the model can optimally adapt to their wishes and, if necessary, practise poses, running or similar.

Preparatory work for the preparation

This rough outline shows you how to prepare yourself as a model for an upcoming Prep Day:
-Read the information letter again thoroughly. In addition to the location and time frame of the Prep(aration) Day, you will also find the names and positions of the team members and whether and what you should bring with you on the day of the event.
- Research the client's previous campaigns and the work of the production team. This will give you a good idea of what is expected of you - and you can ask specific questions on the Prep Day.
-Give feedback to your agency or the contact person of the filming or shooting team. This way they know that you are aware of the preparation day and can inform you of any last-minute changes to the schedule.
-Pay more attention to your diet during the week of the Prep Day. A diet rich in vitamins and plenty of fluids will improve the appearance of your skin and make you look more radiant. You should avoid irritating or bloating foods to avoid looking blotchy, pimply or bloated on Prep(aration) Day and during the photo shoot itself.
