Bookers are employees at a modelling agency . They act as an intermediary between the agency, the model, and the potential client. Bookers receive enquiries from the modelling agency’s clients, put forward suggestions for suitable models , and create shortlists . Moreover, they are responsible for the entire process of drawing up the contract. They are also in charge of negotiating the modelling fees. After a successful production , they check the invoices for expenses and fees and ensure that all balances are settled.

Organisational skills are necessary

In the day-to-day work of the agency, bookers handle a variety of organisational tasks. For example, they are responsible for planning and arranging appointments. Models’ interviews, castings , test shoots , and go-sees are all organised by bookers. Bookers also arrange meetings with photographers, clients, production teams, and media outlets, and ensure that everything runs smoothly. Managing comp cards in the model database

An important task of the booker is to create and manage comp cards for the models and to oversee the running of the model database. They are responsible for ensuring that each model's comp card is always up to date. This is important so that models are able to secure suitable roles without any issues. How to become a booker

There is no special training or degree program for the job of a booker. Most applicants enter this profession via a preparatory internship at a modelling agency. With excellent organisational skills, good negotiation skills, and brilliant communication skills, a potential booker has all the skills required for the job. Foreign language skills, particularly English, are also essential.
